George is a very good boy having a very confusing couple of months.
He came to us after his owner moved and couldn't take him along, and while he's handling it all as best he can, it's clear this environment feels overwhelming for him. George is sweet, gentle, nervous, and always looking at people like he's trying very hard to understand what comes next.
We don't think George has had much experience with life outside of the farm. Walks are still a little uncertain, and the adoption center can feel loud and overwhelming for him. After spending time outdoors, George will sometimes stop by the creek and refuse to go back inside, leaving us to carry him in ourselves.
Truthfully, we don't think George really knows yet what it means to be someone's beloved dog. He needs a patient home that can teach him how to dog, and show him the simple joy of being adored exactly as he is.
If we're being honest, this boy could really use a foster home for a few weeks, somewhere he can decompress, exhale, and learn what being a dog is supposed to feel like.
Foster care changes everything for animals like George. Pets who spend time in foster homes are significantly more likely to get adopted, and studies show that even just one or two nights out of the adoption center can dramatically improve their chances of finding a home.
Thank you to his sponsor, Bynum Merritt, for helping support George while he learns the world can still be a gentle place.
